What is A7 Paper Size
Definition
A7 Size is the smallest one in the A-series paper standard that is still commonly used for printed materials. It was generated per ISO 216 standard- The standard starts from the largest A0 size, to A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, and to the smallest A10. It is based on the German DIN 476 standard from 1922, the same range of paper sizes has been adopted by the Japanese in their JIS P 0138-61 standard.
It is half the size of A6 and is often utilized for very compact documents, such as tickets, business cards, and small labels. A7’s diminutive size makes it ideal for products that need to be highly portable and easy to distribute in large quantities, while still offering enough space for essential information or designs.
Dimensions
A7 has dimensions of 2.91 x 4.13 in inches, or 7.4 x 10.5 in cm, or 74 x 105 in mm.
As a reference, we can take the standard credit card size for comparison reference – it has dimensions of 3.4 x 2.1 inches, the A7 paper size is right approximately 0.9 times the width and 1.9 times the height of a credit card.

Regions
The ISO A sizes were first introduced in 1922 in Germany as DIN standard 476, and has since been widely implemented in most developed countries around the world, including in Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. From below picture you can find where the ISO paper sizes are applied and where the US paper sizes applied in the world.
Uses
A7 is primarily used in specific contexts where compactness is essential, and space is limited. Its small size lends itself to a range of applications, including:
- Business Cards: In some cases, A7 paper is used for business cards that are larger than the typical size but still remain compact. This can be useful for creative industries or where a unique card size is desired.
- Tickets and Vouchers: A7 is a popular size for event tickets, raffle tickets, and vouchers, as it is small enough to be easily distributed, yet large enough to contain necessary information such as the event details or expiration date.
- Labels and Tags: A7 is often used for small product labels, price tags, and other retail tags that need to be easily readable but compact enough for placement on products.
- Invitation Cards: Although larger formats are often used for invitations, A7 is sometimes employed for specific types of invitations, especially for smaller events like parties or private gatherings.
- Small Promotional Items: Marketing materials like coupons, special offers, or small brochures might be printed on A7 paper, allowing businesses to produce inexpensive, high-volume printed materials that are easy to distribute.
- Postcards: While A6 is more common for postcards, A7 is sometimes used for particularly tiny or specialty postcards, such as those for marketing campaigns or souvenir postcards.
A7’s size makes it the go-to choice for printed materials that need to be compact, portable, and easy to distribute in bulk. Its small nature also means it can be used effectively in marketing campaigns that aim for a high volume of inexpensive prints.

Part of ISO A Series Sizes
A7 is obtained by folding an A6 size paper, which means two adjacent A7 papers are equivalent in size to an A6 paper.. Then by folding an A7 along its shortest side, an A8 document can be created. With this method, A paper sizes is formed from A0 (with an area of 1 square meter) to A10. The aspect ratio of all sizes remains constant (1:1.414 or √2:1).
Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
A7 size requires less paper than larger sizes, especially when printing a large quantity of items like notepads or business cards. And the materials with a A7 size is easy to store, file, and transport.
Disadvantages
The A7 size is too small to fit for some bigger things due to the limited space. For example, when used for printing larger large amounts of text or graphics or large-scale charts or diagrams on a single sheet, the printing may not be easily visible when showing the details. And, it may not be compatible with most printers, users may have to resort to manual printing or seek out a specialized printer instead, which is completely not convenient- Imagine that you need to find a new printer in office while everyone is busy on a project.
A7 Size Alternative in US
A7 size does not have equivalence in US, but it is close to the Memorial Prayer Card size, which measure 2.5 x 4.25″, it has similar shape and a close aspect ratio, just slightly narrower and taller.
